A Piece of Me.

I know that a lot of people have pieces of jewelry that are special to them, such as charm bracelets.  I have a 'pendant' necklace.  A collection of pendants that have been given to me over the years, used for guidance, faith, protection and love.

The pendants:
 - Miraculous Medal
 - St. Christopher (Patron Saint of Travelers)
 - St. Michael the Archangel
 - Love Pendant
 - Family Pendant

Just wanted to share this piece of me.

Baby Shower Invitations. Lovely Little Girl.

Baby Shower Invitations.  For a little girl.

My sister is currently expecting her second child, but first little girl.  Since I wasn't able to attends her first shower, when she was pregnant with my nephew (being in Savannah at the time), I wanted to do this for her.

Since I love being creative and to polish my graphic design skills when possible, I created her shower invitations.

Inspired by the illustrations of Eloise Wilkins.

Halloween Week. Full of Spooky Goodness.

Houdini Photo that I embellished for decoration
I love all holidays. When I say love, I mean "LLOOVVEE" all holidays!  I enjoy spending them with family and friends, decorating, cooking, watching movies and just celebrating them to the fullest extent.  I know that I am not alone on this out there.  I have many friends who are the exact same way.

This week is full of Halloween goodness, first I have been decorating the apartment.  This has been really fun, because since I just graduated and have my 'real' first apartment, I started from scratch on the decorations, some were bought, some were made.  Next all week long at the Museum we are having a "Haunted Path" for the kids!  We will have a magician, a gypsy storyteller, phantom pumpkins, and mad science experiments.  I plan to have a costume photo shoot setup as well.

To round out the week on Saturday, my family will be going to a close friends house for their annual Halloween party.  We have been doing this for as long as I can remember.

Raven and Other Poe Poems, circa 1920's (purchase)
Plenty of pictures to come.  As of right now, I am at seven (yes seven!) different costumes.

Sorting through books. Where to put them all.

Since moving into my apartment two weeks ago, the one thing that I have been pushing aside is unpacking my books.  I love books. It is clearly an addiction.  The thing is, is before I moved to go to school I sold my bookcases (I needed the money).

Fast forward present,  I have all these books but no bookshelves.
Sorting the books.

So now I have be trying to think a creative ways to utilize the space that I have and all the books, to create a happy place.

Here is what I have come up with.

It's really coming together.  I tried to group books by themes and place them in around complimentary pieces.  Like above, I have the State of Liberty and the books are about New York and architecture.

New Blog. New Apartment. Same Journey.

New Apartment. First Photo

It has been four (long) months since I graduated from college, the ultra cool Savannah College of Art & Design.  In that time;  I accepted a new job with a brand new Children's Museum handling the Marketing & PR, moved back home and now I have a new apartment.  I feel invigorated and ready to take on the world.

I really have missed being home.  Not just my family and friends but, I love Kansas.  It really is a beautiful state and has a lot to offer, as long as don't let the cynics deter you.

Something I learned in the short few months be home, is you can be happy and inspired by your surrounds in you truly want to be.  That is what be inspired where you are is all about.  Where ever you are, physically, mentally or emotionally it is making that extra effort to to take what you have and be inspired.

Create your own journey.  This blog is to document mine. I want to share my journey and but also I want to hear from other women who are doing the same.  Let us be an inspiration to one another.

A journey is best measured in friends rather than miles,
